Lilli Luuk is one of the most recognized Estonian writers, addressing themes of memory and history in her work. Her debut work ‘Auk’, and later ‘Kolhoosi Miss’ received the prestigious Friedebert Tuglas Short Story Prize. Her debut novel ‘Minu Venna Keha’ won third place in the historical novel competition in 2022, and in 2023 Luuk was named Writer of the Year. Her second novel ‘Ööema’ has received several awards, including the Estonian National Cultural Award, and was among the nominees for the 2026 European Union Prize for Literature.
