Kadambari Koli-Tandel holds a B.F.A. and M.V.A. in Visual Arts. As an artist and co-founder of the Tandel Fund of Archives, she actively preserves the cultural heritage of Mumbai’s indigenous Koli fisherfolk community. Her research-based, community-driven practice includes pop-up museums, public art, and documenting oral histories as a counter-narrative to unsustainable urbanization. Notably, through the ‘Estuaries of Waning Sounds - Āyā mājī kōālā pāvalī ? Dictionary Project’ and Song Books, she revives the oral Koli language, contributing to its first dictionary project. Her work has been showcased globally, including at Goethe-Institut Mumbai, ZKM Karlsruhe, and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
