The Fifth Binod Kanoria Children’s Literature Awards

The annual Binod Kanoria Children’s Literature Award celebrates Indian Children’s Literature and its creators. This year is special since we turn five!

Awarded by The Binod Kanoria Foundation, the award recognizes that children’s literature is a unique space with multiple audiences and myriad literary and artistic endeavours. Hence the foundation awards excellence in six categories – Early Readers in English, Middle Grade in English, Young Adult in English, Early Reader in Hindi, Illustrations and Non Fiction.

This year too, our juries have been drawn from the most accomplished writers, editors, illustrator and library practitioners in the Indian Children’s Literature space. Our Early Readers and Middle Grade jury includes Shinibali Mitra Saigal, Menaka Raman and Nita Luthria. Young Adult – Samina Mishra, Sowmya Rajendran and Nirupama Kaushik. Non Fiction – Dr Sanjeev Chopra, Dr Devika Rangachari and Hannah Lalhlanpuii. Hindi – Purwa Kushwaha, Teji Grover and Saba Khan. Illustrations – Anitha Balachandran, Ruchi Masane and Chetan Sharma.

The awards have been set up in honour of Shree Binod Kanoria, a Mumbai industrialist who loved children and books. And we delighted to collaborate with Literature Live! for the fifth time. The Awards are managed by Founders Nirbhay and Mansi Kanoria, Awards Director Lubaina Bandukwala and Awards Coordinator Yashasvi Vacchani.
