I Like the Way...
Sachin Srivastava
Poetry
I like the way you saw me,
as if the world paused long enough,
for a glance to become a beginning.
I like the way we learned to nod, to smile,
to find small bridges between our silences.
I like the way tea turned to talk,
talk to trust,
trust to something unnamed.
I like the way you believed in me,
without needing proof.
The way you said yes,
and everything after felt possible.
I like the way you sensed my thoughts,
before they reached my lips.
The way you never judged,
just listened, whole.
I like the way you asked me,
to come with you, alone.
How your hand found mine,
warm, hesitant, human,
a quiet promise the world couldn’t hear.
I like the way you understood pain,
without questions.
The way you said no to my cuddle,
yet wrapped me in care.
I like the way distance melted,
barriers dissolved,
and your breath found my lips,
like a secret the wind had carried too long.
I like the way you understood,
the way you let me be,
the way you let it be.
I like the way you taught me to see myself,
in the echo, you left behind.
And I like the way
love stayed,
not loud,
but quietly infinite,
even after you left.
