I don't know what to Write

Poetry

I don’t know what to Write

A blank page |
A wordless void |
The screen’s brightness burned in my eyes
While everything in my brain I despise
My hands hover over the A
But the dust settles before I do...
The fan whirs, the cars screech
And I still don’t know what to write |

A white expanse, unbroken
Like an overcast world of grey
The cursor pulses, like a dying heartbeat
Words float in the air, unwritten, unspoken
The screen stares back
Haunting away the light from my soul
And I still don’t know what to write |

Frustrated, my mind’s doors creak and close
Yet somewhere a hinge starts to shift
Though will I ever pen something
Nobody knows
But now the blank screen blinks, its presence unsure
Words form, half-born, but breathing,
With whispers of an assure
And I may know what to write...

Glimmers and beams of light enter,
Through the mist, something stirs, a silver light
A world awakened, nerves fired, fingers moved,
A chain reaction ignites
My soul and mind fall into the groove.

The page fills fast, alive with thought
The heartbeat swells, invigorating
In a void, I found a spark - hope’s first ember
What seemed like a tomb, became a womb.
And in the struggle, a tapestry emerges
Not of words alone, but of spirit
In the nothing, everything was born.
In the depth of “not knowing”, I found my light
Only to realise my poem,
Its solution, was this very dark night...
