A Normal Day of Being Married to a Bookseller
On a bright day, I told Mister Eden,
“Let’s have a cosy picnic in the garden,
Stuff ourselves with tea and cake?”
“My dear, you don’t even know how to bake,”
Mister Eden said, “Besides, I am reading a book.”
What could I offer him he couldn’t already find,
In his dusty books, within his dreaming mind?
“I may not know many things, but I know
this bright day can’t wait but the book can.”
“My dear fellow!” “You can bring your books, but the way
sunlight can illuminate you belongs just to this bright day.”
He rolled his eyes. But we left without his books.
