Indian history books speak only of one Partition that split the subcontinent into two nations - a third would be born a few decades later. For the first time we have a book that speaks of not one, but five partitions that resulted in the birth of twelve nations. This book draws attention to a bigger picture, a larger undivided map and pieces together a puzzle we didn’t know we needed to solve. Two historians discuss how one of the defining events of the twentieth century unfolded and the story of the countries that emerged from the wreckage of Britain’s Indian Empire.
