Ranjit Hoskote is a poet, cultural theorist, translator and curator. His collections of poetry include 'Central Time', 'Jonahwhale' (published in the UK by Arc as 'The Atlas of Lost Beliefs', which received a prestigious Poetry Book Society Recommendation) 'Hunchprose' and 'Icelight'. Hoskote’s translation of a 14th-century Kashmiri woman mystic’s poetry has appeared as the acclaimed 'I, Lalla: The Poems of Lal Ded'. His translation of the great 18th-century Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir’s poetry has just appeared as 'The Homeland’s an Ocean'. His essays on the late artist and poet Gieve Patel’s oeuvre appeared this year as 'To Break and To Branch'.
