Unfinished

Ananya Viswanathan

Poetry

They told me you found love,
You dated a man or two,
Married one of them after,
Lived happily forever in lieu,
Of a life with me and the flowers,
Planted in my garden for you.

They told me you found joy,
Lived so carelessly without,
A thought for the girl you left,
Who you kissed beyond doubt.
Laughter echoing into the night,
The memories you forgot about.

They told me you found hope,
A new beginning, rainbow's gold.
Gone the secrets beneath covers,
Your lips whispering tales of old.
Hands held tight during wintertime,
I do miss them when I'm cold.

But it's okay really I think, while I
Tend to the flowers, morning dew.
They told me you found yourself,
And I'm sure that's probably true,
But I'll still spend the rest of my days,
Wondering why I found myself in you.
