SCHOOL OF LOVE

I lay with my eyes closed,
My thoughts racing fast & dark.
I venture into deep shadows,
Thinking about my lost spark.

My mind sinks down to the ocean floor,
I swim & swim until I can breathe no more.
I wish I could pull myself back to the shore,
But everywhere I look - it's a shut door.

My mind calls out to me,
"Come down here, lie with me;
You see, there is no hope left-
Staying down here, for us, is the best."

My heart feels heavy as I drown,
Fall of an invisible crown...

But then I see fish dancing in the light,
Without fear or darkness in sight.
I drift towards them & they surround me-
"We're love", they say as they spin with glee.

One tells me, she's the love of life,
And she goes beyond every strife.
One tells me, she's the love of others,
She moves on, even when no one bothers.

One tells me, she's the love of nature,
Ever grateful to earth's nurture.
One tells me she's the love of creation,
She's behind every new invention.

But there's one fish who swims above all,
Although tiny, she looks mighty tall.
She tells me she is the love of self-
The best form, often the farthest on our shelf.

I swim with her for quite sometime,
Listening to her speak about qualities of mine.
She looks at me kindly & smiles as we speak,
Giving me the warmth I needed, but never did seek.

I lay with my eyes closed,
Thoughts racing fast & dark.
But within me love's light glows-
As if I had never lost the spark.
