Sumantra Ghosal is a former advertising film maker, an arts filmmaker and an accomplished translator. He has translated the works of Urdu poets Kaifi Azmi, Jan Nisar Akhtar and Javed Akhtar. His latest translation is ‘Three Masters’, that features the dohas (rhyming couplets) of Kabir, Rahim and Vrind accompanied by commentaries on the couplets by Javed Akhtar. It will be launched at Godrej Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest 2026 .
