Iffat Nawaz is an author based in Pondicherry. She worked for over a decade in humanitarian and development projects in USA, Asia and Africa. Her novel Shurjo’s Clan (Penguin, Vintage), was shortlisted for Best First Book (Fiction) at The Mumbai Litfest in 2023 and now part of three university syllabi. In 2016, she published a book commissioned by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, titled Untold Stories of Tanguar Haor. Her writing has appeared in the Scroll, Cosmopolitan, Bloomsbury USA, Zubaan Books, Himal Southasian and The Indian Quarterly among others.
