Ayaz Memon has been a journalist for over 47 years. A graduate in Economics and Law from Bombay University, he entered journalism by chance, for Sportsweek Magazine, when still in Law school. Reporting on the 1983 World Cup and seeing Kapil Dev's team pull off a spectacular victory made up Ayaz's mind to pursue sports journalism rather than law. He was Editor of Sportsweek and later sports editor of major newspapers like The Independent, Mid-Day, Times of India. He has also edited the leading Mumbai publications Mid-Day, Bombay Times and DNA. He has commentated on cricket, IPL, Olympics, Asian & Commonwealth Games for Star Sports/Sony and other networks.
