Akshay Kale is an Indian Hispanist specializing in Hispanic Literatures with an emphasis on poetry. He has presented his research on Central American poetry and the oeuvre of the Peruvian poet César Vallejo at international congresses held in Havana, Guatemala City, San Salvador and London. As a literary translator, he is credited with the first book-length direct translation from Spanish into Marathi of an anthology of Pablo Neruda’s poems. He has also translated Argentine writer Roberto Arlt’s novel Los siete locos into Marathi. His original Spanish language poems have been published in journals such as El Cobaya and La Puerta del Carmen. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Spanish Language and Hispanic Literatures and Assistant Dean (Academic Affairs) at the Jindal School of Languages & Literature (JSLL), O.P. Jindal Global University in Sonipat, Haryana.
