Son of the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha and brother of Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Fazal Qureshi was formally initiated into the tabla by his father.Through the traditional Ganda Bandhan ceremony he underwent years of rigorous training. Over the past four decades Fazal has performed with India’s greatest maestros . As a composer and teacher Fazal has enriched both classical and contemporary music . Today he leads the Ustad Alla Rakha Institute of Music guiding young disciples with the same dedication instilled by his father , while continuing to perform worldwide.
