Raghu Karnad was born in Mumbai and grew up in other cities. He is a journalist and essayist, and the author of Farthest Field: An Indian Story of the Second World War. He also works on video, podcasts and documentary film. In 2022-23, he was a fellow at the New York Public Library’s Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers.
