
Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud held office as the fiftieth Chief Justice of India from 2022-24. Some of his notable judgments were on the right to privacy, gender equality, disability, dissent, free speech, decriminalizing homosexuality and the electoral bonds scheme. An alumnus of Delhi University and Harvard Law School, where he obtained Masters and Doctoral degrees, he served as Additional Solicitor General of India, (1998-2000) as a judge of the Bombay High Court (2000-13) and as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court (2013-16), before being elevated to the Supreme Court of India in 2016.
