Ashok Alexander studied at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, the Delhi School of Economics, and IIM Ahmedabad. After a long career at McKinsey & Company in New York and India, he left as a Senior Partner in 2003 to lead Avahan, the Gates Foundation’s HIV/AIDS prevention programme, credited with averting 600,000 infections. In 2013, he was a Senior Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Ashok now leads The Antara Foundation, working in maternal and child health across Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. He is also an author, painter, and national-level chess player.
