Letter to my Younger self
12
Poetry
Dear younger self,
No obvious memories bring me back to you
But a window opens
Everytime i close my eyes and think of you.
A warm drizzle of soothe softens my mind
Maybe childhood is treasured for a reason
And you might have not done as many mischiefs; fallen and broken any bones
Been a kid? If that is
But oh boy have I lived you ask?
You have tried so many sorts of things
Painting, dance, instruments, languages, sports, chess, what not
Lost touch with every love of yours
Quite lost now (much) no doubt
But all you have lived has shaped you
Life is not what you thought it'd be
It's a lot different
My overthinking did kill some sorts of possibilities to experiment
But you've been a tinkerbell through storms
Life is so full of worthwile experiences
So full of warmth, knowledge and beauty
And you get to experience it
And through all the changes that came our way
You've been brave
To preserve what you truly love
Between self-doubts and insecurities
Not letting the spark fade away
Amid that rising outer dullness;
I cant ever thank you enough
And I wish loving came easy to me
Others but myself most
Bring back the smile in every photo of yours
The you in every memory of yours
Every person walked by you still lives in you
You would see how i much adore you
For who you are, how cool you are
Joining bits and pieces together
For keeping that soul alive inside
That binds us and reflects us
Bringing us on a fairly common ground
As magical true and vivid as the galaxy
Of whose stars i stare viciously
As i write this piece of my heart to you
Love and much pride
Yours older self
