Poetry
Amidst a war
There is peace,
Of the woman who sleeps
Of the child who cries
Of the man who weeps
In a different land
Away from the rubble
Away from the fire
There is peace
How do I speak with words stuffed cheeks?
Some spilled- "War is cheap"
No price to the meek
Endless tears and red seeps
Into the abyss
Where ancient, old and new, meet
Amidst the war
There is peace
Of the tree that swings
Of the melody that rings
Of the mountains and hills
In the forests of mist
Away from misery's tryst
Away from all of this
There is peace
How do I smile with crimson bits of teeth?
But the eyes shine "War is wreath"
All wear as crowns
Armors donned
Symbol of the brave
The wearers all the same
Amidst the war
There is peace
Of the noise of cars
Of the water that drips
Of the plate of fish and chips
In the city's breeze
Away from buzzing fleas
Away from 'a moment's peace'
There is peace
How do I hum with vapored throat?
Wheeze interrupts "War is footnote"
Consulted only for execution
Always a reference, ever absolution
Previous pages studied
To write a new one
Amidst the war
There is peace
Of the screech of birds
Of the working hands
Of the family arguments
In the loud voices
Away from silent ruins
Away from the tremors of sunrise
There is peace
How do I walk on the ground with traps laid?
As I fall I say "War is band-aid"
When wound of mistakes,
Pride and despair
Remain Open, unrepaired
Only to cover in haste
Amidst the war
There is peace
Of the eyes that smile
Of the shared minds
Of the breaths that live
Before the sun dies
Amidst the war
There is peace
Of the hands that hold
Of the last sigh of bold
When sleep takes the old
In chaos and rage
Away from the cage
In company of grief
Accompanied by belief
Amidst the war
There is peace
