Forms of love
10
Poetry
The forms of love are so varied and diverse
They depend so much on what you seek in your lovers
One form asks you everything about your life
Ultimately acceptance of the form could get you a wife
Another one only about your situationship
To help you latch a casual relationship
Then comes which is relatively bland
Not too much info shared for a one night stand
Many may say some of the above
Can never qualify as love
So let’s look at the forms to get you a love true
Not sure how many of them really do
The forms of “true” love can complicate
You need to fill them up in triplicate
One goes to the other party, One to a parent
The third is an acknowledgement if they consider you heir apparent
A detailed listing of your assets and liabilities
Along with a five hundred word essay on your abilities
The size of your family matters a lot
As does whether your looks are hot
Height, weight and complexion do matter
Some like them thin and some fatter
Many a girl wants her other half taller than she
A male lover with his head bent is what I see
Fair and dark are not just two colours of the skin
Now dont get started on the effects of melatonin
All that data and all that complications
A total disclosure of all your relations
Remember relations and relatives are two different words
If you involve the latter, they will turn up in herds
Each of them will have their take on what makes a better half
They will all want to be the one to decide on your behalf
After filling all those forms comes the interview
Where you have the challenge of putting across your view
To a herd of a family which has already fought with each other
And now is looking at you as if you are here to steal their daughter
At the end of it all you will wonder if it was worth all the heartthrob
Thinking had you filled those bank exam forms, you probably would have got the job
The topic ‘forms of love’ surely did not mean a form to fill
But when a poet like me has lots of time to kill
He keeps finding ways to put a meaning that the originator didn’t
So the next time someone gives me a topic, they need to add some fine print
