Ballads from the shore

Poetry

I

Two kids running
With their dog
And wait
For the crabs
An adult couple
Strolling
Faded
Cycle tyres
Of the ol’ fortune-teller
The marks of
An anchor
Summoning
Sailors of the unknown
Back home.
Such are the footprints
On the shores of time.

II

Of soft waters and sunshine and you

I may walk on the path
Of this hillside shore
I may long for the stars
Beyond my reach
I may groove and sway
Until the day breaks
I may seek the rhymes
Of the said divine

And whenever I sail
Through the unknown
I’ll sing and tap and smile
On this tune
Of soft waters and sunshine and you.

III

O’ Father
My thether
To the divine
Blessed
Is thy son
That inherits
Thy ways to
Collect
The images
Of God
In days all and
Forms a-plenty
Till the end
Of our time

O’ Mother
Thou Birth’d
The divine
So gentle
Thy love
Sailing me
(Like breath)
To life
Every day
I am
But thy dream
And reality
An alchemy
Thy grace
Like thy hairpin
That is and
Isn’t

IV

On the shores
Of questo morrow
We bide

Singing songs
Of sweet sorrow
In stride

Planting feet
In the sands of time
Trickled by

Gazing through
The big blue
Beyond

Foretelling
All the ways
It will be

O’ tell me
Quando Quando
Will it be

O’ tell me
Quando will we
Ever see

On the shores
Of questo morrow
We never know

How waves anew
Touch us
When they flow

(When waves anew
Touch us
Then we know)
