A Chance for the Forgiver

I waited...
I waited around the corner to see your face again
Hoping we would start from where we left off again,
I waited as I saw kids playing in the water, and dogs running around
Hoping to catch that familiar smile as a flower lands on the ground
I waited...
I waited like a crop wanting the first drop of seasonal rain
Hoping for the buds to grow and flourish again,
I waited as I saw friends getting together, and families holding hands, as the leaves turned a colour of brown.
Hoping the next breeze of air brings love back in town.
I waited...
I waited for the light to turn green
Hoping for the sign to be clean,
I waited as I saw the light turn off, and the door being locked
Hoping for a chance to see it change as I walked...
