Savitri Medhatul is a Mumbai based theatre producer, director and documentary filmmaker. She is co-founder and artistic director of Kali Billi Productions. An active member of the Mumbai theatre circuit, Savitri has worked with leading actors and theatre groups, in various roles of acting, directing and producing. She has also collaborated on national and international theatre projects. Her work touches upon varied topics such as farmer suicides; the Bene Israelis; and water distribution and rickshaw drivers in Mumbai. Her latest production is Lavanyavati, which includes family archives, video documentation and live performances by hereditary, non-hereditary and queer lavani performers.
