Humans have always dreamt of paradise, a place where they can escape suffering. Will it remain only a dream, when conflict grips so many places that have come to represent paradise in the popular imagination? Take the examples of Jerusalem, Kashmir, Sri Lanka and the very place in which the word "paradise” originated, Iran, where paradaijah in old Persian means walled garden. This session with one of the finest contemporary travel writers takes us on a virtual world tour and asks whether paradise is ultimately a way of seeing, to be found amid the rough and tumble of life and within ourselves.
