Recent and ongoing conflicts in the world indicate that some forms of colonialism endure. To understand colonialism's key structural features, this session discusses one of the modern world's largest imperialist projects, the British empire. Specifically, the panellists discuss how Ireland served as a laboratory for Britain's depredations in India, helping it hone its methods of violence and expropriation. The session then circles back to the ways in colonial repression lives on in new forms in the world's dominant institutions and ideologies.
