Whispers of Gandhi’s Light

Sameer Gudhate

Bapu,
your presence lingers in the quiet spaces
of our hearts,
where truth gently whispers,
and suddenly, the weight of the world feels lighter
because of the path you walked.

You stood,
unarmed yet fearless,
against an empire,
not with brute force but with a peace
so profound it melted the coldest of hearts.

Non-violence—
it sounds simple, doesn’t it?
But from your lips, it flowed like a river,
cutting through the hatred and fear,
washing away the noise of a broken world.

Even today, we hear that river.
Its current runs through our veins,
reminding us that peace isn’t merely the absence of conflict,
but the courage to face it,
to stand tall and unafraid.

The world around us has grown louder,
quicker,
yet we search for you in the quiet moments—
in stillness,
where truth holds the power
to transform our lives.

You believed in the strength of hands that work,
in the warmth of hearts that serve,
in the dignity found in the smallest of acts.
And as time moves on,
your spinning wheel still turns,
binding us to the strength of simplicity,
a gentle reminder of what truly matters.

The youth today,
restless and seeking,
reach for you in their dreams.
In every protest,
in every cry for justice,
we feel your voice—
soft yet unyielding,
a guiding star amidst chaos.

Bapu,
you taught us that love
isn’t just a feeling we hold,
but a way of living,
a quiet revolution in itself.

And even though you’ve departed,
you are everywhere—
in every step we take toward peace,
in every hand raised for truth,
in every heart that dares to hope
for a better tomorrow.

We carry your light,
not in grand gestures,
but in those quiet, everyday moments
when we choose to stand for what’s right,
even when no one else is watching,
even when it’s hard.

Today,
on your birth anniversary,
we promise—
to walk the road you paved for us,
to believe wholeheartedly in the power of peace,
and to hold fast
to the beautiful dream
you envisioned for us all.
