We Mourned
Divya Khurana
one fine day
in the empty park pipe I lay
my friends hilo and highlo by my side
none of us had anything to say
couldn’t even whisper
because humpy the pup had died
at the top of our lungs we cried
but then Casper arrived
the painful pit bull
hilo put his hand on my mouth
highlo whispered “don’t shout”
I muffled
and he sniffed all around
while we lay lifeless
and he was wandering rather clueless
as people say they lack brain cells
clearly his mindless growls tell
but
suddenly the growls started getting crisper
and then for forty eight minutes straight
we all mourned but in whisper!
