Revel
Murali Raman
Power courses through my veins
as though I myself were
Thor Indra Zeus Varuna
Lighting bolts
of high- voltage electricity
race through my very essence
My chest puffs out
Nostrils flare with adrenaline surge
My senses atingle
My hair stands alert
Hands raised in praise
of the wild, wild elements
Legs wide apart
I look up at the power center
way above
Smiling in anticipation
of satiation
And the glorious denouement surely follows
The ink- black roiling clouds light up like so many dark, snowy fields
The sky bursts into a blinding white sheet of incandescent light
As the eye reels with
rainbow colors of incomprehension
The loudest ever clap of thunder falls down into earth
as a deluge descends
Rock-hard parcels of solid water
drench the pounded ground
Carving rivers of destruction
My very being shivers
in high-excitement
Wanting more
Light sound force
The pounding,
Unadulterated release
of wild nature.
Later it will be calm.
But for now
I revel in being.
