ODE TO HER

Shikha Gangwar

ODE TO HER

Long nailed fingers of greedy desires
Scratching away the curves of Gaia,
Setting ablaze the remains in pyres
Creation - wrecked, plundered and made a pariah.

Beauty timeless, beauty transcendent - HE watered, raised
Nurtured, shaped with grace and love;
Swaying, humming, dancing in gales,
Perspiring rivulets - swirl along the curves.

Beauty eroded, Beauty sullied and sold,
Choking, throttling the posterity.
Yet rummaging for the repute and gold-
Elusive, ephemeral necessity.

Tattered, receding emerald garb, laying bare the skin scorching-
Striding nigh every moment, dusty dry dunes approaching.
With teary torrents, Zeus wreaking wrath on wretched humanity,
Every passing year augurs a calamity.

Razing, piling; razing, nailing; feeding fatal fog and fumes
Erecting magnum edifices and abode,
Kings and Pharaohs - buried bequest in tombs
All withered in dust, debris, clouds of smoke.

From Chaos She arose, to Chaos She is hauled,
Sands of time falling hurriedly - days on decline.
Burdened, shamed by Kith and Kin; All
Marching closer to ruins of human kind.
