Metamorphosis
Shreeka Jandhyala
A beautiful soul hidden in a cocoon,
As it shied away from the phases of the moon.
The comfort and warmth kept it safe,
Far from the big bad world filled with rainy days.
But as the seasons changed and clouds drifted away
Came down the safety net, leading it astray
Compelled to venture, the butterfly learnt new ways
Went from flower to flower, trying to make its place
The struggles and hardships started taking a toll,
The darkness slowly consumed it whole.
When a little bird came to the rescue,
Asking questions that might surprise you
“Why do you search for beauty in other things,
When you yourself carry it on your wings?”
“Why do you search for a plan set in stone,
When you have the whole wide world to explore?”
The shining star can only guide you,
When you let the darkness find you;
Accept the beauty of uncertainty,
For clarity could never bring curiosity.
