Emojis Charade
Ashwini Sannake
It's funny how we have an emoji
For every expression, activity, food, and even drink,
A small icon for every object, every wink.
Yet we use these symbols as a cover,
Masking our real emotions, hidden under.
A paradox, these digital smiles,
Extra laughing emojis to show
“Hey, I was just kidding”,
When deep down, we're not,
We’re merely bidding
For some understanding,
Some truth to be seen.
Those weird happy smileys hide our displeasure,
A facade of joy when there's no pleasure.
Extra hearts and kisses sent in vain,
When our love alone isn’t enough
To ease the pain.
A thumbs up to say we're okay,
When we're not, no, not today.
Behind the screens, our truth lies raw,
Emojis cannot mask what we truly saw.
In this cyber charade, we play our parts,
Crafting messages, concealing hearts.
Our fingers type what we can't say,
Hiding sorrow, pushing it away.
Like a digital circus where we all perform,
Pretending we're fine, it's the norm.
Layers of smiles, layers of disguise,
Underneath this virtual mask,
Truth often dies.
No, we are not okay,
Not at all,
Yet with that thumbs up emoji,
We somehow manage to hide it all.
Hoping someday, someone will see,
The real emotions beneath the emoji.
