Cleopatra (for you)

Ojas Pawar

I was sitting busy in the lonely night;
Out of nowhere my pocket oracle lit
There I saw your name, it glimmered,
I was at the mystery of you,
Then I saw your face
and upon me you shimmered.

I could barely control not to fall for your charming grace,
Something lit in me
As if i was a wood fuel for the furnace.

We shared our mysteries,
We got to know each other's history,
For me you were my cleopatra
(Like a goddess)
Paragon of a womanhood.

As harmony wove its finest thread
There was an dilemma/enigma in your head
I don't know if this is the truth
Or I am just defending you
In hope for your return

You vanished in thin air,
Without even having a care;
All we needed was a conversation
But you've already made your decision.

Now all I'm left with is-
The overwhelming weight of your memoirs,
And overthinking of what could've been,
In my heart
With cries of melancholy choirs.
Still with all this woe
I'll always wait as your foe.

There will be a time in your life
When you'd be haunted by my longing
Regret will hit you slow yet as a knife
This will be our silver lining
