Ramachandra Guha is a renowned historian. His landmark history of the Indian Republic, ‘India after Gandhi’ and his two-volume biography of Mahatma Gandhi: ‘Gandhi Before India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World’ were published to wide national and international acclaim and ranked highly by leading publications in India, UK and USA.

His other keen interests - in the environment and in cricket - have resulted in a pioneering environmental history, ‘The Unquiet Woods’ and an award-winning social history of cricket, ‘A Corner of a Foreign Field’.

Ramachandra Guha’s awards include the the Sahitya Akademi Award, one of the highest for contributions to Indian literature, and several prestigious international awards for environmental history, sports history, historical biography and contribution to Asian studies. He holds an honorary doctorate from Yale University.
