Mesak Takhelmayum is a young literary figure from Manipur and the Northeast, working across poetry, literature, editing, translation, visual art, and filmmaking. A queer non-binary writer, their work engages with memory, gender, conflict, displacement, belonging, and indigenous identity. Mesak has edited ‘Voices of Youth: Volume 2’ and ‘MIWA: Queer-Trans Anthology’ from Manipur, documenting and amplifying emerging queer and trans voices from the region. Through their writing and poetry, they have represented the unique queer histories, lived realities, and cultural memory of Manipur, bringing the region’s distinctive voices and stories into wider literary and artistic spaces.
