Merged
Poornima Dayal
Poetry
Egos burning to ashes
in pure fires, at the blink of eye lashes
as death doth them apart
the body and the soul do part.
A revered creation,
the body, enjoying recreation.
The soul remaining untarnished,
the living body does it varnish.
As flames rise high,
bidding some heartfelt goodbyes,
dancing and glowing
the soul is beaming
recognizing its merger, it is gleaming.
Of the Divinity
within its sublimity
it rests,
leaving any boundaries of seeming arrest.
This loud merry making may be heard
as mankind makes way from its herd,
clapping victoriously, its hands so fair,
oh it was a ride in some theatrical affair.
Yet, thanking the Lord for his mercies
the glowing light, even more,
now it perceives.
Such applause, such gratitude never before was seen
for its time on Earth, for what may have been.
