A Quiet Drowning
Mahvish Nazir
Poetry
The chest is heavy, throat tightening
Hands trembling, mind wandering.
Though quiet but, never quite silenced.
Trying to force out the darkness;
Vision blurred, speech slurred...
Drowned in my own mind, sinking deep
Lost like in the sea
Surfing the waves,
Breathing and alive
Yet, dead inside.
